oranda HELP!!!

topic posted Mon, October 17, 2005 - 8:44 PM by  lizabat
does anyone know anything about orandas? I have one, he has gotten quite large, lately the "growth of his head ha seemed to have gotten larger or swolen and is obstructing his eyes! does this have to do with him growing/aging, or do you think it is more likely the cause of a fungus? i have recently treated the water for fungus, (two days ago) and before that and even now I can see no visable external signs of any fungi.

well nm, he's dead.; ironicly it was due to my mother being a complete retard and not due to his condition (love my mom but geez mom :'(

anyway, I posted a pick of him post mortem first picture in my galley, you can clearly see his condtion. none of the rest of him was swollen, just his head growth. any ideas?

sucks he didn't make it .. woulda been a cool one if the growth wasn't taking his sight.

i think i was some 'fancy' goldfish for the pond next spring the normal looking koi are kinda boring me .. need some freaks with em.

Love the other pix .. anyone who can make dresses like that deserves the car tag

        thanks for the complements!

you might not want to mix fancys in with the koi though, I've heard that it's not a good idea because the koi are much better swimmers and the fanys being retarded mutants can't compete for food and get harrassed. I can tell you from personal experience at least that fancys are lousy swimmers. i don't own a net when I want to move one of them to a quarenteine tank or just to get a closer look to check for fungus or ick, all I do is cup my hand in the tank and lift them out...no net required, hahah mine are so docile they don't even seem to mind it.

i have a ghetto urban pond i inherited from a previous tenent
so its small ... i was driving truck so my koi maintance involved changing the water and cleaning the muck outa the bottom. so i still don't own a new or have inspected them.

in the spring i'm thinking about a second smaller pond/feature in the corner of our courtyard .. could put the fancy's in there

its starting to hot the low 30's at night here now ... so gotta start watching the pond to see if i'll need a heater .. joy
